WordPress breaks after Woocommerce 2.6 update

The Woocommerce 2.6 update is another large update that recently became available.  We’ve seen a number of websites now that broken when they updated.  One of the important things to remember is the order to update your Woocommerce site.  If you have YITH plugin addons like compare or wishlist, you will want to update these first before you update Woocommerce.

One of the biggest issue is people aren’t backing up their websites.  Before you update your website, make sure to push a backup of your site before running the updates.  Especially if you are updating a shopping cart.  If you are running a shopping cart, or a membersite that takes payments, it might save you down time to have a company manage the updates or you.  This is one of the reasons we started website maintenance plans.  Fixing these broken sites when there is no backup available is time consuming.

There have been a few websites now where we were able to re-name the plugins folder and then turn them all back on one by one in a different order to get the website to come back up again. If your site has a white screen or a 500 server error, contact a local WordPress expert to look into the website problem.
